October 15 was a special day when six stylists from across New York volunteered at our Prospect Place women’s shelter for our very first Beauty Day.
On this crisp fall morning, the women of Prospect Place were treated to professional haircuts by incredible volunteer stylists and would leave the day glowing.
The day started early, as volunteers transformed Prospect Place’s community room into a pop-up salon. Tables were moved to make room for salon chairs and supplies.
Upon arrival, six stylists set up their individual stations, putting the finishing touches on the space, and bumping to 80’s tunes to complete ambiance.
The stylists then went to work, chatting with the ladies as they brushed, snipped and straightened hair to perfection.
No style looked the same; some women took the leap and got bangs, while others opted for short cuts or subtle layers.
When the hair cuts were finished, the women chose beauty products and make up to complete their looks and took photos on our Beauty Day “red carpet.”
Beauty Day was coordinated by Steph Caldwell of Noordyck Salon who put out a call to stylists across NYC. Thank you Jason, Gabrielle, Danielle, Steph, Juliana, and Nina for the styles and smiles you brought to CUCS.
